From Kristiansand to Pinkafeld
After the 5000m track test I joint the national team training camp in Kristiansand to have some days of very challenging technical o-trainings. Only the first day, we feared that the snow might cross our plans, but fortunately we were wrong. The snow melted and melted. As it was my first visit...

longggg 5000m
Last Friday, most national team runners met in Schwechat to pass three different parts of the elite program: 5000m track run, a cognitive test and a combination of track running and cognitive abilities.
As Markus planned to run the 5000m another day, I had a lonely race from the start to the end. I...

Austrian Cross Country Championships
Last Sunday, I took part in Austria's cross country Championships on the long distance (9,96km). The course was placed in Vienna's recreation Park "Prater", passing our flat only by about 50 meters :) So, Patrizia and me just had to get out of the door, and voila, we were on the course.
In our...

POM - heavy but happy legs in the end
Today's Middle distance was hold in the fastest terrain of POM 2010. With very good runability and visibility (except of a few control sites), you were not "allowed" to make mistakes. I tried to take out the maximum of the power in my legs, which was not that much anymore after some demanding days....

Portugal - where is the sun?
After some months without any serious competition, I started my international season 2010 with the POM in Figueira da Foz. Since my last article, I took part in a New Year Eve's run and some nice regional competitions in Austria, most of them with snow.
The snow, and low temperatures are the reason...

treadmill test
At the beginning of every training season, our team, military orienteering team, conducts a treadmill test, starting at 10 km/h, increasing by 2 km/h every 3:10 minutes, at an elevation of 5%. Thanks to Robert Enne and his team in the military hospital Wien-Stammersdorf for supporting us every...

comparison GPS and route drawn by myself
I draw my route on the austrian night championship map before I had a look on the GPS file.
In the attached map you can find both on one map, my drawn route, which I thought I was running and the GPS route.
In general, there are no big differences. Of course it depends also on the map, but I tried...

Austrian Night Championship
As the Austrian Night Championship was postponed to the beginning of november in the region with Austria's highest mountains, we wouldn't have been surprised, if we had to run in snow. Fortunately, we had perfect weather conditions and it was warmer than in previous years. The organisers did...

Top First Job
Last Sunday, I had my last competition in 2009. I took part in Graz Halfmarathon, a nice event with a lot of spectators and a motivating atmosphere along the whole course. I had a good feeling during the first kilometers in my legs and hoped to be much faster than the time I was aiming for (73min)....

Season's end ahead
Unfortunately, I had to skip the World Cup Final in Switzerland. Finally, I finished WC 2009 on place 50, that's clearly far away from my pre-season's goal of Top 20. Of course, I miss the points from the WC final, but my performances in Scandinavia have been to weak for more points. In this...
