POM 2011 - day2
The second day of the POM turned out to be what it promissed, challenging course in a technically interesting terrain. The many many stones made it very important to navigate with concept and high concentration all the time. That was also my goal for this race. Unfortunately, I was not able to stick to my plan throughout the whole race. After a good start and a good approach to the hidden central control of the butterfly, I felt confident how to master the course. But the feeling should not last too long. To control 5, I wanted to see the green area in the valley, but I couldn’t clearly say, which was the one I was looking for. Instead of taking a second look, I run up the wrong valley and corrected after realizing that I had taken the wrong one.
To control 8, I knew that the flag should be on the eastern side, but I didn’t expect the stone that far away from the small stream. So I ran downwards , expecting the control any time to come on the eastern side of a big stone, but it didn’t. Instead, I was jumping over a little wall and found myself ahead of a path – oops – turning, taking the right stone that time.
After some moments of annoyance, I managed to find back to my focus and finished the course without any further “searching period”.
I’m looking forward to an challenging WRE tomorrow, thinking of a “safety-line” behind the control ;)
