World Cup Final

11th place in the overall Worldcup - wow - I didn't expect that before the season, especially when you have never been in the Top30 earlier. Last weekend at the World Cup Final in Switzerland, I was very happy with my performance on the middle distance. I had a solid race from the start, got a good map contact from the beginning and also the physical shape was good. Controls 10 - 11 were somehow difficult in the control area, as it was not easy to assign the vegetation drwan on the map to the vegetation in the terrain or vice versa. Anyway, I managed the situation satisfying and got contact to Tranchand and Lauenstein, who started ahead of me. To the 12th, I was insecure for a short moment and lost some seconds as I looked for the control at an earlier stone group.

My route choice decision to the 14th control was not good. It seems, I was getting tired as I tried to avoid any climbing. It was just unnecessary to go that far left. After the steep downhill to the 16th, the technical part was over. In the end, I took the 8th place, not far behind the 3rd.

The sprint World Cup on Sunday wasn’t that successful for me. With the 24th place I was little behind my expectations. I made some suboptimal route choices, which added some extra seconds to my time. However, it was a great atmosphere in the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds and it made fun to run.
